Dr Dafydd Mills Daniel
Dr Dafydd Mills Daniel is Lecturer in Divinity at the School of Divinity, University of St Andrews. He is Project Lead for Owning Scot-Land, having previously led the grant-funded research project Owning the Future of Scot-Land. Dafydd’s scholarship on the Enlightenment in general, and the Scottish Enlightenment in particular, underpin his interest in the relationship between historical and contemporary Scottish land ownership debates. In 2021, he was an invited panellist at the Scottish Land Commission’s annual conference, discussing Land governance – time for new models? And, in 2025, was invited to deliver the 10th Annual Scottish Episcopalian Institute Lecture, for which he spoke on the theme of Scottish Theology and Scot-Land. A regular contributor to BBC Radio 4’s Free Thinking programme, he has also broadcast widely on issues related to land, rights and/or ownership, including his BBC Radio 3 documentaries, Where do human rights come from? and Bob Dylan and the Ferry, along with appearances on BBC Radio 4’s Moral Maze (episodes Rights and Rules and Human Rights) and contributions to BBC Radio 4’s Free Thinking on the programmes Adam Smith; National Debt; Christianity Faith, Politics and Culture; John Knox; Individualism and Community; and, nature writing (where Dafydd’s contribution, on the 18th century ‘parson-naturalist’, Gilbert White, was featured as choice in the Radio Times).

Dr David Stuart
Dr David Stuart is a Research Assistant at the School of Divinity, University of St Andrews. He completed a PhD at the University of St Andrews in 2025, entitled Learning to Love: A Theological Response to our Polarised World. Interested in helping groups resolve conflict, he is currently pursuing research on conflict arising from land ownership and usage.
He has previously worked on the research project Owning the Future of Scot-Land, and currently works as a research assistant on the Owning Scot-Land: Land, Ownership and Scottish Identity and the Sacred Landscapes projects.
He also led the grant-funded interdisciplinary conference Faith and the Future of Scotland.
